Mia Elliott

Mia Elliott, 16, is a student at Manitou High School.  Mia came to the YDA program ready to explore how women, particularly women of color, are harassed and cat-called in public.  By juxtaposing stories of women in contemporary society with archival footage of women from the mid-20^th century, Mia reveals that despite the women’s movement and increased awareness of violence against women, cat-calling and harassment are still endemic in the culture.  Mia hopes to attend a four-year university after graduating high school.
