Garry Moyer, 18, recently graduated from CIVA High School, an arts charter academy in Colorado Springs where he already had extensive experience in digital arts.  At CIVA, Garry enjoyed the small teacher/student ratio and even began teaching as an assistant in video classes.

One of Garry’s passion is the environment.  His YDA film, SPACESHIP EARTH, is a visual poem and a wake up call for citizens to preserve and protect our planetary home.  Garry wrote, shot, edited, narrated and even scored his film by himself, demonstrating, too, a keen interest in music composition.

SPACESHIP EARTH premiered to rave reviews at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. Several months after completing YDA, he acquired additional video equipment and traveled to Austin, Texas, where he began interviewing his grandparents for a film memoir he intends to produce next year. Garry is currently studying at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and wants to continue pursuing his interest and talent in all forms of filmmaking.

Seeing what all the other students came up with for their films really helped me learn more about what I want to do with my own filmmaking.  The projects were so diverse.
