Kallista Palapas

Kallista Palapas is a senior at Vista Ridge High School. In April of 2019, a close friend and classmate took his life, creating a ripple of grief and confusion.  Kallista used her YDA fellowship to create I’LL BE THERE, an unvarnished account of Ricky’s life and death. Capturing intimate interviews and scenes with family, close friends, and even turning the camera on herself, Kallista wrestles intimately with issues and topics often swept under the carpet.  She looks forward to bringing her film to educators, youth and service providers, especially in Colorado Springs, where the incidence of teen suicide is one of the highest in the nation.
