Sorin Santos is a graduate from Manitou Springs High School. He applied to YDA to tell his story of his childhood which consisted of several illnesses, which resulted in heart and brain surgery all before the age of ten. The trauma of these events led to debilitating depression and anxiety in high school, including forced admission to a psychiatric hospital. Sorin’s film SURVIVING intimately recounts these events while revealing his own personal battle to fight against mental illness. Sorin enjoys writing poetry, long boarding, and being with his dogs and friends alike. He plans to pursue the study of psychology within the near future.
